細かい字がかすんで読みづらくなってきました。そろそろ新しいメガネに作り替える時期かと思います。日本では、眼鏡屋さんに専属の検眼医がいますが、アメリカのシステムは違うそうですね。

まず検眼、それに合わせてレンズを作ってもらうという手順は同じです。ハワイでも近年は、日本式のメガネ店を見かけますが、通常はメガネ店と、視力検査医（optometrist）は、別の独立したビジネスとなっています。あるいは、視力検査医の所でメガネを作ってもらえる、いわば日本と逆のシステムです。ところで、optometrist と ophthalmologist（眼科医）は違いますが、検眼の技術面の進歩はめざましく、検眼の際にも一通りの眼に関した検査をしてもらえます。

My nearsightedness (farsightedness) seems to be getting worse.
