父の作った羽毛の レイ

数年前、父は、羽毛のレイを作る趣味を始めました。父は、この趣味に熱中しています。そして、毎晩、レイ作りに取り組んでいます。作ったレイは贈り物として、いつも人にあげていたのですが、一年程前、なんと一つ売ってしまったのです！　両親が、父の作ったレイを入れるシャドーボックスのフレームを買いに行った時のことです。そこの店員さんが、父のレイをとても気に入りました。そして、母に、そのレイをどこで手に入れたのか尋ねました。父の作品だと知って、その店員さんは、どれか売ってくれないかと尋ねました。父は、売ったのです。その店員さんは、１００ドルちょっと支払ったと思います。それは羽毛のレイの値段としては、本当にお買い得なのです。

My father’s feather leis

A couple of years ago, my dad took up feather lei making as a hobby.  He’s very enthusiastic about it, and he works on them every night.  He usually gives the leis away as gifts, but about a year ago, he actually sold one! My parents were at a store getting some of my dad’s leis framed in a shadowbox, and the salesperson really liked them.  She asked my mom where leis were from, and when she found out, she asked if my dad would sell any to her.  He did, and I think the salesperson paid a little over $100 for one, which is actually a pretty good deal for a feather lei.
